A dream come true

It’s my deep pleasure to let you know I’ve finally finished my book, Aging into Bliss: Discovering the Wisdom and Joy of Your Timeless Nature.

It's the birth of a book and the birth of a dream. I will release the book early next week, which hopefully will give my “baby” a chance to show how beautiful it is in time for Christmas.

What an adventure life is. When you feel a dream of some kind tugging at you, a new project of some kind, a journey perhaps, you do your best to do some planning. You try to envision some of the factors that may be involved in your bold new adventure. But we never really know what life holds in store for us until we actually commit ourselves to the journey and follow it all the way through.

There have been times over this past eight or nine months when I really wondered if I would be able to finish this book. As I've mentioned before, it seems to have a life of its own. There were so many occasions when I thought I had everything nicely in place but then wham, an unexpected challenge arose that required some real persistence and flexibility to handle.

But now at last, as I say, the book has been born, and like an eaglet making its first flight, will take its first baby steps early next week.

One of my heroes, Dr. Linda Fried of the International Longevity Center at Columbia University, said not long ago: “We have such a human aversion to getting old; it’s associated with death, and death is scary. But as a society, we have not had the conversations we need to have. There are huge opportunities there.”

I love Dr. Fried’s words and I want to do whatever I can to participate in the conversation that as she says, is so urgently needed in these days.

As I say in my book, it's a conversation about aging, yes, but it’s also a conversation about who we truly are and what our real purpose on this planet is. And it's a conversation about the wisdom that is our birthright whatever our age.

For my own part, as I enter my 80’s, I want to shout with as loud a voice as possible that aging is not something to be feared. It is an opportunity to experience more deeply than ever before the pristine wisdom and joy of our timeless nature. It is an opportunity to reveal more fully the divine masterpiece we truly are.

I send my love and blessings to you and look forward to chatting with you again soon. Any thoughts on the above much appreciated as always.

Always such a pleasure hearing from you Linda. Thank you for your kind words and all the very best with your own endeavors. I’m glad you’re enjoying your days, I sometimes think of a quote somewhere in the bible about the best wine coming at the end of the feast…

I have been a fan of yours for over 30 years! Your wisdom, vibrant, harmonious and gentle spirit has paved the way for so very many to be in touch with the Lord’s Grace within their own true Being! Personally, I am so very grateful for your splendid works. I also understand and resonate with the timelessness of your invaluable message to the world.

Uranda used to reference the process of defecation or the release of urine and feces and how people were embarrassed about odor, etc., and how all of that was born from a fear of death!

We have the opportunity to mature without aging. We also have the opportunity to bless the world without embarrassment through the spirits of gratitude, joy and blessing. It all seems to just require authentic appreciation for our bodies, our privileged lives and our worlds.

Thank you for the gift that you are and the divinely brilliant radiance that you shine!

With Love,

Thank you for your loving words and your kind and generous spirit Stuart. It’s good to share this adventure of life with you and know more surely every day that life is trustworthy and there is a hand of grace upon each one of us, whatever our circumstances, whatever our culture, and whatever our age. Thank you for the gift you bring into this world. God bless.

When I grow up I want to be alot like you:)
Congratulations on your new masterpiece,

Christopher Foster November 30, 2012 at 3:38 pm

Carolyn, thanks. Oh dear. I must try not to let your comment go to my head because my wife always chops me down to size if she sees any sign of that. By the way, I just had a peek at your blog — it’s beautiful Carolyn, it really is. I wish you much success.

Hi Diana. Thank you for keeping an eye open for the posts and it’s always a real pleasure to hear from you. How is “Pug” doing by the way? You’ve created such an interesting and charming character. Any new adventures on the horizon?

Jackson Dunes December 2, 2012 at 8:01 am

Thanks Chris, for your support. Pug is doing well. I’ve created two books for my grandchildren (for when my daughters decide to bless me with grandchildren that is!) One is called The Alphabet Book and has Pug engaging with the letters and the second is a picture book about believing in oneself. Here’s the link:

You’re the best!

Hi Chris,

I’m really looking forward to reading your book and also to buying a copy for my Mom and Dad in South Africa. I think they will really get a lot of hope from you and your words.

In the short time I have been reading your blog, you have shown me that although life can throw you unexpected curve balls, that it also has treasure and love waiting further on your path.

You have given me much hope for the future.

Thank you,

Your comment means a lot to me Kim. Thank you so much. Please give my love to your Mom and Dad. Where do they live and were they born in South Africa? It’s a while ago now but I lived in Southern Rhodesia for a couple of years when I was young before it became Zimbabwe. Love to you Kim. Be well. And yes, despite the confusion and pain there really is much hope for the future.

Maureen Moeller December 2, 2012 at 10:41 pm

Chris, I am so looking forward to reading your “baby”! What an accomplishment for anyone at any age! As you have mentioned in an earlier post, your book took on a life of its own, and isn’t that the challenge? Staying open and accepting the unexpected twists and turns of the “birthing” process of any creation is something we all need to remember. We are not in control, and surrendering will lead us closer to our true nature or purpose. So proud and happy for you Chris. I think my active 80+ year-old parents would love a copy for Christmas; maybe as much as myself! May the spirit of joy, surrender and peace be yours during this holiday season.

Love to you and your lovely wife,
Maureen Moeller

Christopher Foster December 5, 2012 at 10:55 am

Thank you and bless you Maureen. I appreciate your support immensely. Your words are so true, and to add to your words, however much we may think we know, isn’t it true that there’s always more to learn? I know I’ve grown these past 8 or 9 months or however long it is since I started on the book.

It’s what we’re here for though isn’t it Maureen, staying open and accepting those “twists and turns” of which you speak. Life is good and life can be trusted. Blessings to you.

Tess The Bold Life December 4, 2012 at 8:36 am

Hi Christopher,

Congratulations to sticking with a difficult task. It’s easier than ever to publish (self) a book but writing one…I don’t think so!!! You’re amazing and I’m proud to call you a friend. However I still don’t like aging;) xo

Christopher Foster December 5, 2012 at 10:58 am

Tess, you are a true original. Thank you so much for your help and support so freely given, and I’m proud to call you a friend. But look, Tess, you don’t have a thing to worry about, you’re never going to age.

Phil D. Malmstrom December 4, 2012 at 12:25 pm
